or: A New Website, Concerts, and Thanks for the Friendships
1. Thank you for reading
I’m always happy when someone tells me they read my “8 things.”
In recent months, I’ve received responses from Nové Zámky, Prešov, Levice, and Bratislava. I write this newsletter for anyone who loves music and education – and still finds time for good books. Thank you!
2. We’re preparing a new website, InMusic – with documents on contemporary music, interviews with composers, video podcasts, sheet music, books, analyses of works, and quality recordings suitable for teaching.
Everything under one roof – for teachers, students, musicians, and music lovers.
We would be grateful for your support – whether financial or by sharing the DONIO campaign:

3. What is good, and how do we lead young people to it?
Goodness seems to be disappearing from life. People are more focused on themselves and less willing to help others. Character education is therefore an important part of the ongoing curriculum reform. We talked with Ivan Ježík about how to support the development of personality and moral values in young people in schools and how to prepare future teachers for such a challenge.
4. I’m always happy when I come across a good methodology.
The book “Zaskočený príbehom” (C.S. Lewis, M. Markuš) contains excellent questions for individual readers or discussion groups. These questions help reflect on the themes C.S. Lewis explores in his books, as well as on the searches and challenges of our personal lives. The book also offers a way to engage with groups of students at high school or university. Highly recommended.
5. Currently, we have 3 courses on innovative education open – for singing, piano, and wind instrument teachers. We’d be glad if you joined us in Revúca or if you know a teacher who’d like to experience new approaches to teaching – feel free to forward the course details to them. Besides the course, they’ll also enjoy the beautiful countryside and the marmot habitat, which I still haven’t managed to photograph! :-))
6. I warmly invite you to two concerts – Two Faces of French Music.
On June 14 at 7:00 PM, at the Slovak Radio, Tomáš Boroš and I will perform 3 Pieces in the Shape of a Pear by Erik Satie. The program will also include works by Slovak contemporary composers who directly respond to Satie’s poetics – each from a different perspective. The concert’s dramaturgy is an invitation to a conversation between the past and the present.
On June 18 at 6:00 PM, in the beautiful Albrecht House, a more intimate version of the French program will be presented. Together with soprano Helga Varga Bach, we’ll perform songs and piano works by Erik Satie, Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, and Štefan Németh-Šamorínsky.
7. Music, Friendship, and Dramaturgical Decisions – in the ArsMusice show on Radio Devín with Tomáš Boroš, we take you behind the scenes of our concert.
8. Video Greeting
Peter Zagar – Intermezzo. Peter’s music will also be featured in our concert on June 14 at 7:00 PM at the Slovak Radio.
Thank you for reading my “8 things” and I wish you a wonderful week.
Ivan
